HEPBURN: CUT SOME SLACK

Our wide-leg jean pays homage to the Hepburn who broke the Hollywood mold and redefined the modern woman—one pant leg at a time.

Our wide-leg jean pays homage to the Hepburn who broke the Hollywood mold and redefined the modern woman—one pant leg at a time.

During a decade when glamour was synonymous with overt femininity and women could be arrested for wearing pants, Katharine Hepburn stomped onto the scene with her strong-willed attitude and androgynous sartorial sense that gender-bended the rules of the style game with zero apologies (or dresses). Besides pioneering the pant into the modern woman’s wardrobe, Hepburn’s brazen persona brought to light larger topics —namely, what it means to be a woman. Is it her behavior? Her dress? Her state of mind?

For all of those things, we thought it only appropriate to name our wide-leg jean after Hollywood’s brassiest dame.

Here are the specs:

The fit: This cropped wide leg is ultra high at the waist, relaxed through the thigh
and fitted in the hips and butt for a little backside boost.

The details: Pairing high-shine copper hardware with an authentically pre-loved look is
what the aim was with both of the washes that we developed for the Hepburn.

Slate is a classic true blue that goes from lived in to live hard with a balanced combination of subtle grinding along the waistband and pockets and a heavily ravaged hem.

Eggshell is a soft white wash that takes the more polished route. Sans distress with clean detailing up until the ankle, it features raw fraying at the hem for just the right amount of interest.
